Tom served for six years in the U.S. Army before entering the ship repair industry. After nineteen years working in the ship repair industry, Tom decided to start his own small, family-oriented business where attention to detail and taking care of people would go hand in hand.
Tom recalls starting the business working out of a “lopsided trailer with a flat tire in the middle of a field” with a handful of people performing small fabrication jobs. Today, Bay Metals & Fabrication, has its own shop with 75+ employees completing full ship alterations with expansion continuing into habitability and commercial endeavors.
Recently, someone asked Tom what he thought made Bay Metals & Fabrication successful. His reply: “our people.” Many of the employees who started with Tom are still with Bay Metals & Fabrication today, bringing more than 100 combined years’ experience in the shipyard repair industry.
